BOOK DESIGN & MULTIMEDIA INSTALLATION

Voici est ma Vie

A PERSONAL PROJECT

An immersive multimedia installation that forms a nonlinear narrative around the painful but unavoidable human experience of loss through the lens of losing my mother. I constructed an archival pigment print handmade concertina style book with an embossed cover about my mother’s life (pictured above). In addition, I created a series of photo collages on vellum and transparency film displayed through projection and on light boxes (not pictured here). At the final exhibit in April 2017, I constructed a contemplative environment exploring unresolved questions surrounding how to navigate memory, grief, loss, and honoring the dead. For more context and to learn more about my process on this intensive yearlong project, check out my mid-year presentation here, and see my blog for this project here. I also wrote a paper, which has been published, and is available here.
